It might be hard to see what is strange about this picture, but if you take a look at her waist, you might notice how goddamn small it is. This girl has a 16-INCH waist. It's almost hypnotic. How does she breathe? Does she actually have ribs? The whole thing just flusters me.

what makes it even more fatastic is the... um , aaa balance! nice -hourglass shape... if those are real it makes the package!
Is that Dita? I know as a "goth dude", I'm supposed to find her hot, but I just never have. I knew a girl who was into the whole corsette/waist training thing and I just found it terribly unappealing, uncomfortable and disgusting. Just like a girl witha 90 inch waist is gross, so is a girl with a fourteen inch waist.
So Mariln and Dita gave each other fashin tips?
Maybe she's missing a couple of ribs like Thalia.
It was common practice in the 18th century French court for nobel women to have the lower two ribs broken and removed in order to achieve a tiny waistline like this. Rumor had it Vivian Leigh also had this done for Gone With The Wind.
Actually the rib removal stories are urban legend. Think about it, they didn't have general anethesia back then. Also, the mortality rate for something relatively simple like an arm removal was at 50%. No one is going to let a surgeon saw away at them with no anethesia and have at best a 50% chance of survival.
I'm sure she just did it the way victorians did it: starvation and tight corsets.
rwgirl - I have to disagree with you on this one: women (and some men; mostly women) seem all-too-willing to put themselves through all kinds of hellish torment to "feel better about themselves" - especially in our society. I would not put this kind of procedure past people. Do any other pseudo-medical procedures come to mind? Seriously, I find it HARD to believe what some people are willing to do to themselves!
Joe- I'm not disagreeing that people do retarded things for beauty. How many ppl do you know that took Phen-fen (sp) after it was pulled from shelves? (pff who needs a functioning heart?)
I'm just saying this particular surgery wasn't done in Victorian (or earlier) times. It's a popular urban legend. Check out any of the urban legend websites.
The most sensitive nerves in your body are found on the surface of your bones. Not many people are going to voluntarily let someone take a bone saw to them without anesthetic.
Ouch! Yeah, you might be right.
Although, the ones who did were probably just given some banana peel to smoke and told to bite on an old piece of leather while the surgery was performed...
I doubt she's had any ribs removed or anything crazy like that, but years and years and years of very tight corsets will do that.
