Wesley Snipes will spend the next three years in prison.

"A judge has just sentenced Wesley Snipes to three years in prison for tax evasion. Forget black -- always bet on the U.S. government!

Snipes was not forced to surrender immediately. Instead, the judge ruled he could surrender at a later date, closer to his New Jersey home.

Nathan J. Hochman, Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department's Tax Division, said, "Snipes' long prison sentence should send a loud and crystal clear message to all tax defiers that if they engage in similar tax defier conduct, they face joining him and his co-defendants ... as inmates in prison."

Snipes was convicted in February on three misdemeanor charges for not filing his taxes. The government claimed he owed $2.7 mil -- but Snipes' attorneys argued it was just $228,000. No fine was imposed, but the three-year sentence was the max he could have gotten."

Damn.  Shoulda paid your taxes, yo.

Blade that, a-hole! I got the IRS jitters owning them $304 and you tried to skate owing the $38 million. I hope you share a cell with a 350 lb., tranny, mop-wig mama.

I hope he flees the country, because this sentence is bullshit. Aside from the fact that we're putting a guy in prison for a significant percentage of his life for an entirely non-violent crime -- we're going to punish him for not paying his taxes by putting him in a situation where he won't be able to earn any money with which to pay his back taxes AND we'll be paying for his long incarceration.

And people wonder why we have about 500% the prison rate of countries like Germany (about 220 per 100,000 here versus about 60 per 100,000 in Germany).

I guess his only fault was not being a CEO.

I wonder if he can open his mouth like that without showing his teeth? Just wondering.

the collecting of taxes as currently practiced by our beloved government is an illegal act. Snipes broke the law and must be punished but I must point out that the law he broke is a bogus law with no actual constitutional backbone.

Go to Google Video and search: AARON RUSSO

He's got the poop on this issue.

OK, Derick. Man up and give it the old Snipes try. Don't file or pay any federal income taxes, then write the IRS a letter stating just what you said. Oh, and don't be a puss - use your real name and SSN. If you really believe that internet crap about taxes being illegal - I'll send you some magazines you can read in prison.

You might also read some case law on challenges to the federal income tax being brought before the Supreme Court over the last 80 years. 22-0 Supreme Court rulings say you are full of shit.
