What we won't be seeing at any 7-11s in Portland :(

Bummer, eh? This is so cool and I thought we were supposed to have this happen in good old PDX... now it's just going to be in Seattle. Bah. If anyone ends up going to one send me the pics and I'll put them up on my blog.

We have a Kwik-E-Mart in Denver.

Hah - Hah!

Actually, the 7-11 at First and Kelly is already decorated like this!

Seumas said...

Is it just decorated like that? Or is it actually converted into a Kwik-E-Mart?

Most of the stores will have some Simpson's goodies and displays, but only about ten 7-11's will be completely converted into a Kwik-E-Mart -- including the outside and the sign. The closest to Oregon is San Francisco and Seattle.

But maybe there will be enough outrage that they'll be compelled to include Portland before July ends (which is when the movie comes out).

Seumas...now I understand why there is not more outrage over the current situation in our nation's capitol....we're all prepossesed by our collective anger over the fact that Portland was overlooked by the Simpsons Movie P.R. team...I'm glad we have our priorities in order...

We have to preserve our convenience stores. In a world of outsourcing and excessive exploitive H1-B visas, convenience stores are one of the last bastions that the American citizen will still have for quite some time that they can rely on being employed at (until they turn into one giant automated vending machine, of course).

In fact, I would say that it isn't enough to call them convenience stores. We need to start referring to them as FREEDOM STORES. After all, every time you buy a 99 cent twinkie or a two dollar slurpee, you are really buying freedom.

Now, I ask you . . . does this seem like something that should be a small priority, sir? Is freedom that insignificant to you? Do you truly hate freedom that much?!

Oh - also, people know that enough outcry can convince 7-11 and FOX to cater to the consumer. The government - on the other hand - currently has absolutely no interest in the outcry of the American public (unless it involves executing retarded people or babyproofing paint buckets).

Seriously, though... I'm totally going to check out the Kwik-E-Mart in Denver. :P

For once, commercialism, capitalism, TV entertainment and mass marketing finally come together in something that does not totally suck. This really is genuis.

However, since Portland was so cruelly omitted from having even one true Quik-E-Mart; the terrorists have already won.

Seumas - Calm down, take a deep breath, and focus.......While I appreciate your homage to Keith Olberman, you obviously have failed to realize that we, my friend, are on the same team on this issue..I treasure the small store ( I like to call them bodegas,'cause no one in the northwest knows what in the hell I'm talking about ). I am a member of their prime demographic ( lottery player, jerky eater, and beer drinker), and I'll defend them to my last dying day...I NEVER take my freedom to purchase scratch tickets, Hustler magazine, and 40 oz. malt liquor in one convenient location for granted...rock on.

Shovelhead: The one thing I don't like about them is that the stores are stuffed with paintings and cardboard cutouts of Simpsons characters.

Stevobar: Damn it, I was trying to channel Lou Dobbs; not Olberman! *snicker*

Seriously though, someone should open a chain of "Freedom Marts".

It's just decorated, not converted.

Also, if you have a Mac, you can download a widget that tells you how many days away The Simpson's movie is. Mine started at about 250 days.

Yea, you know, Oregon is hometown to Matt Groening, has streets that lent their names to the Simpsons characters, is THE Springfield, and we get nada. Such bullcrap.

I am heading to Seattle tomorrow for a broadcast and will check the one on Denny. I'll snap some photos for you, too.

A friend of mine went and said the guy working actually said "thank you, come again" to every single person. Rad.

We got one here in Henderson (Las Vegas Valley) but when I went today with my sister, it was basically out of everything except for Mountain Dew flavor Squishee, cups, hats and pink donuts. We were bummed because we really wanted to pick up some boxes of Krusty-O's and a comic book.

They don't have Duff beer. It can't be a Kwik-E-Mart without Duff.:(

The beer thing is because the movie is geared toward children or something. Stupid, I know. Especially since there's probably going to be beer IN the movie.

Also, if you don't get the goodies you want, keep going back to the store! Don't let the asses horde everything so they can ebay it. Get some for yourself! :)

I'm totally going to one if I end up in that neck of the woods. I don't think there's any down here...

The only reason to work at a 7-11, kwik-e-mart smocks!
